Bernadette T. Mesi Memorial Scholarship in Nursing
Established in 2000, this scholarship memorializes the life of Bernadette T. Mesi. Mesi was born in December of 1910 in Minnesota. She attended St. Mark’s Grade School, St. Joseph’s Academy, and St. Catherine’s College in St. Paul where she received a degree in nursing. Mesi then attended Columbia University where she obtained a master’s degree. She became a registered nurse and relocated to Savannah in 1958 and served as Director of Nursing at the U.S. Public Heath Service Hospital until she retired in 1968. During her life, she served in World War II as a Navy captain. This scholarship is available to a graduate student admitted into MSN program who is a resident of Georgia with a nursing work history. The student may be full-time or part-time. Preference is given to a student receiving no additional financial aid or scholarship support and of Catholic faith.
