Caroline Christian Marshall Endowed Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in 1999 by Caroline Marshall Cone in memory of her mother, Caroline Christian Marshall. Mrs. Marshall was born on Christmas Day in 1891 in Charleston, South Carolina. She lived most of her life in Savannah, Georgia and was brought up in the public school system. She married Walter P. Marshall, a prominent Savannah architect, which whom she had two children. Throughout her life, Mrs. Marshall was an advocate for education, particularly that of women. She made sure her two daughters were awarded the same educational opportunities as male students. Both of her daughters attended Armstrong Junior College. Mrs. Marshall was known for her charm and was an active member of the Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a leader within the Georgia Methodist Conference, and was the District Secretary. She also was a member of the Woman’s Society. Mrs. Marshall passed in 1942. This scholarship is available to members of the University Honors Program on the Armstrong Campus. Entering freshmen must have an SAT score of at least 1100 and all applicants must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher. This scholarship is renewable.
