Catherine McKay Pittman Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Catherine McKay Pittman Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Established in 2019, this scholarship memorializes the life of Georgia Southern nursing student Catherine McKay Pittman. Pittman was born in 1993 and graduated from Milton High School in 2012 where she was a skilled member of the soccer team. Following graduation, she enrolled at Georgia Southern where she served as president of the Alpha Delta Chi Sorority, student ambassador, and was active in mission work. On April 22nd, 2015, Catherine and four other classmates were traveling to Savannah for their last day of clinicals when they all tragically passed as a result of an auto accident. A bridge on I-16 has been named the “Georgia Southern Nursing Angels Memorial Bridge” in their memory. White nursing coats on crosses also adorn the side of the highway. This scholarship is available to outstanding nursing students.
