Christine Elizabeth Johnson, PhD, Scholarship
Established in 2017, this scholarship memorializes the life of Dr. Christine Elizabeth Johnson. Johnson graduated from Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Georgia in 2006 an went on to receive her B.S. and M.S. from Georgia Southern University. Following graduation, she attended the University of Kentucky where she earned her Ph.D. within the Department of Kinesiology and Health Promotion. During her life, she served as a professor at the University of West Georgia and left a lasting impression on her students and coworkers. The Christine Elizabeth Johnson, PhD, scholarship is given each year to an undergraduate student in the health and physical education (HPE) on the Georgia Southern University – Statesboro campus to support travel to professional conferences. The purpose of the award is to recognize a student with an outstanding academic record in the HPE program who also shows a strong commitment to the profession.
