Daniel Good Geography Scholarship

Established in 1997 by Dr. Daniel Good, this scholarship is used to support Geography students. Dr. Good received his B.A. from Emory and Henry College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. He began teaching at Georgia Southern in 1969 and has taught over twenty-five different undergraduate and graduate geography courses to thousands of students while actively participating in research and service activities. The Daniel B. Good Geography Scholarship is awarded to a full time geography majors at the time of application and must maintain full time enrollment throughout the award period. The student must have a genuine interest in geography and have completed at least 50 hours of academic credits with at least 30 of those hours coming from Georgia Southern. The student must have completed at least 10 semester hours of credit in geography and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 in both total hours and geography hours.

The degree programs in Geology and Geography offer a broad education in the sciences with special depth in geology and geography. Geology students study earth materials, environmental and structural geology and coastal processes. Geography students’ course work focuses on geographic information systems, climatology and human and cultural geography. Graduates will be prepared for careers in teaching, mining-exploration, environmental consulting or government agency work.
