David Starnes/George Brannen Scholarship
Established in 2013, this scholarship memorializes the life of David Starnes and honors the life of George Brannen. Starnes was born in 1943 in Florida and graduated with two degrees in English, one from Georgia Southern and the other from Armstrong State College. He was a creative writing professor at the time of his passing in 2007. Mr. Brannen originally graduated from Georgia Southern in 1969, but since his retirement, he has continually re-enrolled and earned multiple degrees and his most recent graduation date at Georgia Southern was 2015. This scholarship is available to rising juniors and seniors majoring in Writing in Linguistics with a minimum GPA of 3.0. An essay submission and a letter of request must also be submitted.
