Dr. Jane F. White

This scholarship was established in 2008 per the wishes of Dr. Jane F. White’s will. Born in 1916 in Fayette, Missouri, Dr. White obtained a Bachelor of Science degree from Central State College in 1940 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Denver in 1950. In 1974, she received her Ph.D. from the University of North Dakota. Dr. White began her tenure at Georgia Southern in 1962 where she served as an associate professor of Office Administration in the School of Business. In 1976, She was appointed to the research committee of the American Business Communication Association. She retired from Georgia Southern in 198 as Professor Emeritus of Business.
She is warmly remembered by colleagues for her sharp intelligence and strength of mind. Dr. White endured childhood disability that she never led hold her back and in fact, caused her to become even more determined in proving herself to the challenge of academia. She lived an independent life that allowed her to concentrate her time and efforts solely on the classes and students she taught.

Dr. White believed in the College o f Business Administration and the strong business education that is has provided thousand of students and she wanted to see that tradition of excellence continue. Upon Dr. White’s death in August of 2001, she bequeathed the College a generous contribution. The investment is to be used to award an outstanding Marketing faculty member the Jane White Marketing Scholar *_and Marketing student the Jane White Marketing Scholarship_*. Dr. White’s generous contribution to the College of Business is endowed in perpetuity and will help recognize those faculty members who are exceptional scholars and students who go above and beyond in the classroom and demonstrate leadership ability.

This scholarship is available to juniors majoring in Marketing who have a cumulative GPA of 2.8 and a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all Marketing courses attempted. Students must have demonstrated evidence of significant participation in extracurricular activities, especially in leadership roles.
