Georgia Power Chris Hobson Honorary Scholarship

Established in 2014, the Georgia Power Chris Hobson Honorary Scholarship honors the work and dedication of former Southern Co. Services Inc. Chief Environmental Officer and Researcher, Chris Hobson. During his time at the company, Hobson was instrumental in developing innovative solutions for the environment. Chris Hobson previously earned his B.S. in Chemistry from Georgia Southern in 1973 and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1979. This scholarship is available to rising juniors or rising seniors majoring in Chemistry while maintaining a 3.0 overall grade point average.

Georgia Power, the largest operating company within Southern Company, has proudly served for over 100 years.The company’s first president, Preston Arkwright, coined the phrase “A Citizen Wherever We Serve,” and they have been living up to it ever since.
