Jill Miller Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2005 in memory of Dr. Jill Miller. Dr. miller was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Barnesville High School and went on to earn he Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History from Minnesota State College. Following graduation, she received her Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Minnesota. She soon became an Associate Professor at Armstrong State Atlantic University and was a Nineteenth Century French Specialist and Director of the Honors Program. She worked with the study abroad programs in Ireland, Greece, and England and had presented her works in Wales and Thailand. Dr. Miller is well-published and was a member of the College Art Association, the Nineteenth Century French Academics, Telfair Museum of Art, and served on the Women’s Studies Advisory Committee at Armstrong. During her tenure, Dr. Miller taught Art History courses and created many new courses such as History of Photography and Art & Identity. Shortly before her passing, she inaugurated the Summer Honors Institute. Dr. Miller passed in 2005 at the age of thirty-nine. The Jill Miller Scholarship Fund provides support for students who are enrolled on the Armstrong Campus and are either majoring in art or are participants in the Honors Program and wish to study abroad. Preference given to applicants with proven financial need.
