Jule Rossiter Stanfield Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 1997 by the Armstrong Alumni Association in honor of Mrs. Jule Rossiter Stanfield. Mrs. Stanfield graduated from Armstrong Junior College in 1939 and became employed by the college as a Controller in 1952. Mrs. Stanfield served as Vice President for Business and Finance at Armstrong, becoming the first woman to hold that position in the University System of Georgia until she retired in 1981. For nearly thirty years, Mrs. Stanfield served on numerous Southern Association of Colleges accreditation committees. She served as secretary of the Armstrong College Commission, secretary of the Armstrong State College Foundation, member of the Armstrong State College Alumni Association Board of Directors, and President of the Armstrong Alumni Association. In 1989, the Alumni Association awarded her the Distinguished Citizen’s Award for outstanding service. She was active in the Catholic community with the St. Vincent’s Alumnae Society. This scholarship is available to members of the University Honors Program on the Armstrong Campus. Incoming freshman require a combined SAT score of 1000 and all students require a minimum GPA OF 3.0. This is an Armstrong Alumni Legacy Scholarship meaning recipients must be demonstrably related by blood, marriage, or adoption to an alumnus of any incarnation of the institution of higher learning known as Armstrong (Armstrong Junior College, Armstrong State College, Armstrong Atlantic State University, Armstrong State University).
