Julia Floyd Smith Scholarship in History for Women

This scholarship was established in 1983 by Dr. Julia Floyd Smith, former History Department professor at Georgia Southern for nearly two decades. For her dedication, she was named Professor Emerita of History upon her retirement. Dr. Smith began her journey at Florida State University where she earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees in 1951 and 1954 respectively. She received her Ph.D. from Florida State University in 1964 and began teaching at Georgia Southern University in 1965. This scholarship is available to female students majoring in history who are enrolled full-time and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0. If there are no qualifying female applicants, a male applicant will be considered.
