Lon Carnes Music Scholarship Endowment
Established in 2012 by Dr. Lon Carnes, this scholarship recognizes the twenty-seven years of service Dr. Carnes put forth into Georgia Southern University. A Jonesboro, Georgia native, Dr. Carnes attended the University of Georgia where he was an active member of the Kappa Sigma Beta Lambda chapter and served as Grand Master. He earned his B.B.A in 1953 and began working in Georgia Southern’s School of Business in 1967. Upon his retirement in 1994, he was named Professor Emeritus in Finance. Dr. Carnes established this scholarship out of appreciation for the Department of Music and a strive to help others. This scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in Music. The applicant must have a cummulative 2.5 GPA or higher. First preference will go towards string quartet members.
