Margaret L. Bailey Memorial Scholarship in Nursing
Established in 1999, this scholarship memorializes the dedication of nurse Margaret L. Bailey, Dr. Lawrence S. Bodziner, Dr. Meyer Schneider, OB/GYN physicians, and their patiens. Bailey was born in Savannah in March of 1918 and went on to attend Young Harris College where she received her R.N. diploma. After graduation, she was employed in the private practice of Dr. Meyer M. Schneider, a U.S. Army veteran who returned to Savannah to open his practice following the war. In 1953, Dr. Lawrence S. Bodziner joined the practice after his service in the U.S. Air Force. Although Dr. Schneider retired in 1991 and Dr. Bodziner in 1995, the established practice recognized the continued effort and dedicated of nurse Margaret L. Bailey who put in over forty-nine years at the same practice. Miss Bailey passed in 1998. This scholarship is available to provide financial support to students enrolled in the School of Nursing.
