Robert F. Morris, Sr. Business Scholarship

Established in 1992, this scholarship memorializes the life of Robert F. Morris. Morris as born in 1923 in Statesboro, Georgia where he was known as an active boxer and actor. He attended Georgia Southern College, but after two years he enlisted in the Army where he served as firing battery commander in Korea. In 1954, Robert resigned and joined his family’s wholesale grocery business. During his life, he served as chairman of the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church, a member of the Board of Trustees, chairman of the Finance Committee, and chairman of the Building Committee. He also served as a Sunday School teacher and president of the Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club. He served on the Bulloch County Industrial Development Authority, the Bulloch Memorial Hospital Foundation Board, was a member of the Board of Directors of the First Bulloch Back & Trust Company, and was a member of the Georgia Southern College Foundation Board. In 1989, he was elected Man of the Year by the Rotary Club. This scholarship is available to outstanding and deserving entering freshmen enrolled in the Parker College of Business.
