Roxie Remley Master of Fine Arts Scholarship
Established in 2011 by Miss Roxie Remley, the Roxie Remley Master of Fine Arts Scholarship is available to a graduate student who has demonstrated excellence in their chosen studio art as well as their studies in art history, theory, criticism, and professional practices. Remley began teaching at Georgia Teacher’s College in 1950 after she relocated from Nashville, Tennessee. At the time, Georgia Southern did not have an art department, so she taught at the Marvin Pittman Laboratory School. One day, there was an ad on a bulletin board seeking an art instructor and Remley accepted the job. Remley retired in 1976 and passed in 2019 at the age of 99.
