Stafford Scholars University Honors Program Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2002 by Georgia Southern alumnus, Connell Stafford. Connell Stafford (BA, 1970) holds an MA from The American University. He serves as senior counsel to the federal and state practice areas, providing insight and strategic guidance at Troutman Sanders Strategies. In this role, Mr. Stafford provides leadership on legislative and procurement issues for businesses requiring assistance at local, state, and federal levels. He represents clients’ interests in a variety of industries, including telecommunications, engineering, construction, healthcare, the environment, and education. Prior to joining Troutman Sanders, he served for 25 years as a governmental affairs executive for The Coca-Cola Company. Before his work in the private sector, Mr. Stafford served as an executive assistant to Senator Sam Nunn from 1972 to 1979. The 2004 Georgia Southern alumnus of the year, he serves on the Parker College of Business Dean’s Advisory Board and the boards of The Smithgall Woods Foundation and the Georgia Technology Authority. This scholarship is available to members of the University Honors Program.
