Tom Batey, Jr. Alumni Memorial Scholarship

Established in 2003, this scholarship memorializes the life of Tom Batey, Jr., a Georgia Southern alum and supporter. Batey was born in 1954 and graduated from Dublin High School, Berry College, West Georgia College, and Georgia Southern University. He was a member of the Dublin Chamber of Commerce, Elks Club, and Moose Club. Batey was the former principal of Dublin Middle School before his passing in 2004. This scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior from a Laurens County High School who has been accepted to Georgia Southern. The student must demonstrate leadership skills among their peers. Financial need will be a deciding factor.
