Tommy and Karen David University Honors Program Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2006 by Georgia Southern University Foundation Board of Trustee, Tommy David. Mr. David graduated from the University of Georgia in 1972 with a bachelor’s in Business Administration and later attended the Louisiana State University Bankers School of the South. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of First Southern Bancorp and First Southern National Bank. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Development Committee, the 1906 Society, the Technical College System of Georgia State Board, the Ogeechee Technical College Board, the Division One Vice Chair of the Community Banker’s Association of Georgia, the Chairman of the Board of East Georgia Regional Medical Center, the Georgia Southern University Athletic Board, the Board of the Rotary Club of Statesboro, coordinator of the Alpha Team, and staff member/Parish Committee member/Administrative Board member/Finance Committee member of the First United Methodist Church of Statesboro. He has been awarded the Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award. This scholarship is available to members of the University Honors Program.
