William A Winn, Jr.

The Captain Bill Winn Alumni Scholarship was established for Georgia Southern University students in 1993 by a life insurance gift, to honor and memorialize Captain William A. “Bill” Winn, Jr., of Atlanta. Captain Winn, a retired Eastern Airlines pilot, was a Georgia Southern Alumnus and long-time board member for the Alumni Association. He was named “Alumnus of the Year” by the Association in 1969.

He graduated from Georgia Southern College and was an Army Air Forces flight instructor during World War II.
