Womens Network/George and Catherine Peacock Graduate Scholarship
Established in 2001 by the GSU Women’s Network, this scholarship is available to an outstanding graduate student. The founders of this scholarship are Dr. Sandra J. Peacock and Rebecca S. Davis, both accomplished women. Dr. Peacock is an associate professor and the head of the Department of History at Georgia Southern. She obtained her B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College, her M.A. from Sarah Lawrence College, and her Ph.D. from the State University of New York. Her teachings mainly focus on modern European women’s history and intellectual history and has been published numerous times. Davis was reared during the Great Depression and grew to become the first female lawyer in her Georgia county. She also was the first woman judge in Georgia to swear in her own daughter as an attorney. Currently, Davis is an associate professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology and founding director of the Office of Pre-Law Advising at Georgia Southern University. She and Dr. Peacock have written together. This scholarship is available to an outstanding graduate student with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher.
