Clarence W. McCord Scholarship

Established in 2002, this scholarship memorialized the dedicated work of Dr. Clarence W. McCord in the Department of Communication Arts at Georgia Southern. An Oklahoma native, Dr. McCord earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Louisiana College, a Bachelor of Divinity from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts degree from Louisiana State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy from Louisiana State University all by 1968. In his time, Dr. McCord taught at Howard Payne University, Georgia Southern University, Hong Kong Baptist University, Louisiana College, and Southwest Mississippi Junior College. He also served churches in multiple states and countries and was in charge of media production for the International Mission Board in Hong Kong. This scholarship is available to students who are enrolled full-time and are pursuing a degree in the Communication Arts Department.
