Ben Waller/Kiwanis Club of Statesboro Scholarship

Established in 1988, this scholarship memorializes the accomplishments of Ben Waller, retired educator and former Dean of Students at Georgia Southern University. Born in August of 1917, Waller dedicated his life to education. He began his service in the Beards Creek School System as a teacher and worked his way up to being the principal. However, his career was stalled when he enlisted to serve in World War II. Eventually, Waller joined Georgia Southern University where he served as Dean of Students and participated as a member of the advisory board of the Georgia Southern Foundation. This scholarship in his memory was established by the Statesboro Kiwanis. This scholarship worth $1,500 is available to full-time students.
