Evelyn Spain Coe Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship was established in 1997 by friends and family of Mrs. Coe, a civic, church, and business leader. Mrs. Coe was a Gwinnett County native who made her home in Statesboro from 1992 until her death from cancer in 1997. She was active in the Association of Georgia Southern Women, having served as an officer; the Statesboro Newcomers Club, where she was past president; and the Sprig and Dig Garden Club of Statesboro. She was a counselor in the Reach for Recovery Program and assisted in the training of Reach for Recovery volunteers. She was a recipient of a Deen Day Smith Service to Mankind Award in 1996. The Evelyn Spain Coe Memorial Scholarship is awarded on a competitive basis each year to outstanding non-traditional female students enrolled in a major within the College of Business Administration. Applicants must be at the junior or senior level, be of high moral character and be considered leaders among their peers. Scholarships will be given without regard to race, religion or area of residency.
