Chester M. Destler Scholarship
Established in 1984, this scholarship remembers the life of Department of History professor, Chester M. Destler. Born in Pennsylvania in 1904, Destler graduated from East High School in Cincinnati, Ohio where he was a violinist in the school orchestra, a member of the track team, a football player, and a member of the Latin Club. He would go on to attend College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio where he was a valued member of the track team, a violinist on the college orchestra, an archer on the school archery team, and a javelin thrower. Destler passed at the age of eighty in Hartford, Connecticut. This scholarship is available to incoming freshmen attending Georgia Southern University.
