Billy J. Lamb and Curry Colvin Memorial Math Education Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2009 by Robert and Jane Lamb in memory of their parents. Robert Lamb graduated from Wadley High School and attended Georgia Tech before receiving his bachelor’s degree in Education from Georgia Southern. Mr. Lamb served as a teacher and coach for many years before becoming an entrepreneur and opened The Sir Shop in Statesboro, Georgia. While running his store, he continued to coach for the Statesboro Bulloch County Recreation Department. He and his wife, Jane, also owned and operated The Huddle House Restaurant in Washington, Georgia for eight years. Mr. Lamb later oved to Augusta to run his own construction company before retiring. Mr. Lamb is credited as one of the “Dirty Dozen” who brought football back to Georgia Southern. He passed in 2009. His father, Billy J. Lamb, was a Second Lieutenant in the Army during World War II when he was killed in action in 1944. Curry Colvin, Jane Lamb’s father, was born in 1923 and enlisted in the Army during World War II. The Curry Colvin Recreation Complex in Lincolnton, Georgia is named in his honor. He passed in 1989.
The scholarship is available to students who are full time juniors and in good academic standing. The recipient should be enrolled in a program to earn certification to teach math at grade level(s) nine through twelve.
