George R. and Emma T. Kelly Scholarship
Established in 1998, this scholarship was created to honor the life of Emma Kelly, Statesboro native and legend. Emma Kelly was born in Statesboro in 1918 and began taking piano lessons at the age of four when she soon took on the nickname, “Lady of 6000 Songs”. She became known worldwide with her publication, “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”. This scholarship is available to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and pursuing a music major and performance with an emphasis in piano. Each applicant’s academic record, personal character, relevant extracurricular activities and professional goals for the future will be considered. Students will be awarded scholarships based on merit and talent exhibited. There are no restrictions regarding residency, marital status, race, religion, gender, or age.
