Supplemental Questions
  1. Have you been accepted into an Ireland study-abroad program? The Eddie Ivie Scholarship may be applied to any one of the following three programs: (1) Savannah-Ireland Inquiry Program (Summer Term A); (2) Full Term in Ireland Program (Summer Term B); (3) Graduate Summer Research-in-Ireland Fellowship Program.
  2. Many scholarship applications ask you for a Personal Statement. In the case of the Eddie Ivie Scholarship, you're required to compose a short essay known as the Passion Statement. Eddie Ivie deeply loved the land, people, and culture of Ireland; therefore, Eddie Ivie scholars should manifest passion when discussing their desire to further their education through study in Ireland. • There's no preferred approach or "right answer" when it comes to creating your Passion Statement. Some applicants (but by no means all) begin with an aspect of their life experience. They may have family origins in the Emerald Isle; or they may have trained in Irish dance as youngsters; or they may be fascinated by Ireland's $12 billion/year agrifood-exports sector; or they may identify with the music of Hozier (Andrew Hozier-Byrne), the boxing of Katie Taylor, the golf of Rory McIlroy, or the acting of Jamie Dornan. • The Eddie Ivie Scholarship Committee wants to hear your voice, clearly presented in a logically organized and compellingly expressed way. Pay attention to sense and spelling; write in paragraphs; be honest and original. • The Passion Statement must contain at least 650 words, but must not exceed 800 words. Give your work a title!
