Dr. Sharyn D. Gibson Scholarship
Established in 2008, this scholarship memorializes the life of Dr. Sharyn D. Gibson. Gibson was born in April of 1947 in Bluefield, West Virginia. She graduated from Bluefield High School and received her Ed.D. from Nova Southeastern University. After graduation, she went out to teach at Armstrong Atlantic State University for over twenty-five years. During her tenure, she served as professor as well as Chairman of Radiological Technology. She was past president of the Savannah and the Georgia Societies of Radiologic Technologists, the recipient of the H. Dean Propst Award for Academic Excellence, and was selected to give the Marjorie Tolan Honorary Lecture in 1990. Dr. Gibson was proud of her many publications in journal. She fought a long battle with breast cancer before her passing in 2008. This scholarship is available to a rising senior majoring in Radiologic Sciences who has unmet financial need and is in good academic standing.
