William J. Deal Memorial Scholarship

Established in 1982, the William J. Deal Memorial Scholarship was created to honor Mr. Deal’s contributions to the Department of Music and band. A Statesboro native, Deal attended Georgia Southern and was appointed to organize and direct the Georgia Teachers College first college band. Under his direction, the band toured across Georgia high schools in order to cause a sensation of music and encourage other schools to create music programs and bands. This scholarship is available to students majoring in Music.
