Earle D. Cummings Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established in 2006 by Georgia Southern alumnus and former GSU Alumnus of Year for Private Enterprise Mike Cummings in memory of his father, Earle D. Cummings. Earle Cummings was born in 1927 in Spartanburg, South Carolina and he graduated from Spartanburg High School. Following his service in the United States Navy, he attended Wofford College and graduated in 1951. He also earned his MBA at Georgia Southern College and went on to teach in the School of Business. Mr. Cummings was employed in the textile industry for over thirty years and worked for Pineland Mental Health for over twenty years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple, the Frist Baptist Church of Statesboro, a chairman of the Bulloch Human Services Commission, and a member of the Harmony Sunday School Class. Among his accomplishment are being the recipient of the Presidents award and the Deen Day Smith Award. Mr. Cummings passed in 2006. This scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students majoring in Business with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all attempted PCOB courses. Preference will be given to rising or existing seniors.
