William Bolen Retailing Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2003 by Georgia Southern alum Dr. William Bolen. Bolen graduated from Georgia Southern in 1964 with a degree in Marketing. A long-time faculty member in the College of Business Administration, Dr. Bolen created the Center for Retailing Studies. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce, is a member of the Retail Development Committee, has served as President of the American Collegiate Retailing Association and the Georgia Southern Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma, was the creator/coordinator of Georgia Retail Week, was President of Georgia Association of Marketing Educators, and served as Georgia Southern Faculty Athletics Representative. Among his recognitions are the Georgia Southern College Award for Excellence in Research and/or Creative Scholarly Activity (1986) and Georgia Southern University Award for Excellence in Service (1998). The scholarship is available to students majoring in Marketing with an emphasis in retail management or fashion merchandising. Recipients should be at the Junior level, with a grade point average of 3.0 or above and must be enrolled full time. Preference should be given to marketing students who are active participants in the college’s retail or fashion merchandising clubs, competitions or organizations.
