Warlick Fellowship/History
Established in 1996, memorializes the life and works of Roger K. Warlick, former teacher, scholar, department head, and assistant dean of Armstrong State College. A Boston transplant, Warlick arrived at Armstrong in 1970 to serve as the head of the Department of History and Political Science where he taught courses in Civilization, Reformation History, and Historical Methods. His impact brought forth the Roger K. Warlick Prize for the best student paper in History which was established by an anonymous student in honor of Warlick. Warlick served as president of the Georgia Historical Society from 1990 to 1994 and also contributed the book “As Grain Once Scattered”. In 1995, he retired to serve as historiographer of the archives of the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia, yet he continued to work with Armstrong. This fellowship is to attract outstanding scholars who wish to pursue a master’s degree in history at Georgia Southern University.
