The Gwen Kicklighter Butler Memorial Nursing Scholarship

Established in 2011 by Mr. Bill Butler, this scholarship memorializes his late wife, Gwen Kicklighter Butler. Gwen Kicklighter Butler was born in Glennville, Georgia in 1931, but lived most of her life in Savannah, Georgia. She graduated from Commercial High School and began working as Head Teller at the Savannah Bank and Trust Company. Soon after, she met and married Bill Butler who was serving in the U.S. Air Force. During their marriage, they loved in French Morocco, Alaska, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and other states before they returned to Savannah in 1971. The scholarship is available to outstanding students who have been admitted into the School of Nursing, are enrolled full time and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater.
