This scholarship was established in 1990 by Attorney David M. Wiesenfeld in memory of his mother, the scholarship’s namesake. Mrs. Wiesenfeld was born in 1906 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She attended Catholic schools in Florida, and graduated from the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1929. She worked as a registered nurse in Jacksonville, Florida, for over 40 years while rearing five children. She loved and was devoted to the practice of nursing and was the night supervisor of nurses at St. Vincent’s Hospital from 1962 1970. She died in 1983. Criteria for determining the eligibility for the Marguerite Marie “Pearl” Wiesenfeld Scholarship will be the applicant’s academic record and will be open to full time GSU nursing students.
