Mike and Verdery Kennedy Strings and Choral Performance Scholarship

Established in 2015, this scholarship memorializes the mother of Mike Kennedy, Ellen Kennedy, and the mother of Verdery Kennedy, Verdery Boyd. Ellen Kennedy was born in Biloxi, Mississippi, but lived in Statesboro for thirty-two years before she passed in 1977. Verdery Boyd was born in 1908 and lived in Atlanta where she performed as a principal violinist in the Atlanta Symphony. This scholarship is available to students who have an emphasis in either string or choral performance and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
