Tom Kingery/Statesboro Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter Scholarship

In 1855, seven young men, Benjamin Piatt Runkle, Thomas Cowan Bell, William Lewis Lockwood, Isaac M. Jordan, Daniel William Cooper, Franklin Howard Scobey and James Parks Caldwell, wanted something better in a fraternity during their collegiate experience, and from that recognition, a dream was born — the fraternity of Sigma Chi. The Tom Kingery/Statesboro Sigma Chi Alumni Chapter Scholarship was established in 1998 by members of the Statesboro Sigma Chi Alumni chapter. The Statesboro Sigma Chi Alumni Scholarship is given in memory of Tom Kingery.

The scholarship is awarded to outstanding students who are initiated members of the Eta Zeta Chapter of Sigma Chi fraternity. The students must be rising juniors, pursuing any major while maintaining full time enrollment. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 or better and must maintain grades throughout the award period. Applicants must be of high moral character and be considered leaders among their peers. Fraternity service and campus involvement will be a factor. Selection will be made without regard to age, race, area of residency, marital status or religious preference. Should all factors be considered equal, financial need will be a deciding factor.
