Steven R. and Caroline O. Harless Graduate Studies Scholarship

Established in 2006, this scholarship was created by Steven R. and Caroline O. Harless. Steven was born in 1958 in Alexandria, Virginia into a U.S. Coast Guard Family. He graduated from Stetson University and completed his post-graduate work at Georgia State University and Georgia Southern University. Following his CPA certification, Steven Harless worked for Price Waterhouse in Atlanta before founding Harless and Associates. In 1990, he and Carolina founded Peachtree Capital, a financial services company, and they also founded Flat Creek Lodge, a hunting a fishing resort in Swainsboro, Georgia. During his life, Steven was a member of the Knights Templar, York Rite, Scottish Rite bodies, and the Shriner’s Alee Temple. Steven passed in 2019. Caroline Harless has served as President and CEO of Peachtree Capital Corporation since 1990 and is a partner of Harless and Associates. Mrs. Harless is an active member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce of the Palm Beaches, the Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County, the Palm Beach Civic Association, the Palm Beach Business Group, the Palm Beach Development Board, and the Florida Luxury Marketing Council. She has served as Georgia Southern University Foundation Trustee since 2003 and has previously served on the Advisor Board of the GSU College of Science and Technology. Currently, she served on the GSU Foundation’s Executive Finance and Executive Committee. She has served on the search committees that brought Georgia Southern Dr. Brooks Keel and Salida Arthur. This scholarship is available to students pursuing a graduate degree from the College of Science and Mathematics. Should no recipient be found, consideration will be given to students enrolled in other colleges offering science and technology curriculum at the graduate studies level. The recipient must be enrolled full-time and must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0.
