Bazemore-Fetzer-Hagan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was founded in 1983 as the Kate Scott Fetzer Memorial Scholarship by Elise Scott Hagan, her sister. Upon Hagan’s passing, her son, Dr. Daniel V. Ph.D., renamed the scholarship the Bazemore-Fetzer-Hagan Memorial Scholarship to honor his aunt, mother, and grandmother, Connie Bazemore Scott. Connie Bazemore Scott was born in 1888 in Screven County and passed in 1912. Kate Scott Fetzer was born in 1905 in Screven County and graduated from Georgia Normal School in 1928. After graduated, she began teaching at Pine Grove School in Hunters, Georgia. She later earned her B.S. Ed. in 1952, M. Ed. in 1961, and 6-year certificate in 1964. She passed in 1979. Elise Scott Hagan was born in 1912 in Screven County and many of her children became educators. This scholarship is available to Georgia residents who hold a current state teacher’s certification. Applicants must be accepted to graduate school and must be pursuing a graduate degree in education. Preference will be given to applicants teaching in the publics schools of Screven, Effingham, Bulloch, Jenkins, Evans, Candler, Tattnall, Liberty, Bryan, or Long Counties with preference given to Screven or Effingham Counties.
