Billy and Jo Ann Hickman Master of Accounting Scholarship

William R. (Billy) Hickman, Jr. CPA, CFF, is a 1974 graduate of Georgia Southern University with a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting. He joined the Firm in 1974 and was admitted as a partner in 1983. From October 1998 through December 31, 2008, he was the managing partner of Dabbs, Hickman, Hill & Cannon, LLP. Billy is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the states of Georgia, Florida, and South Carolina. He also holds the certification: Certified in Financial Forensics.

Billy is a member of numerous civic and professional organizations including the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He currently serves on the School of Accounting Advisory Council of Georgia Southern University. He is a member of the boards of Excelsior Electric Membership Corporation, Georgia Southern University Foundation, Inc., and East Georgia Regional Medical Center. He served as chairman of the board of United Way for 2006 and 2007. In 1998, Billy was named Outstanding Accounting Alumnus by the Zeta Delta Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi at Georgia Southern University. He presented the commencement address to the Fall 2002 College of Business Administration graduating class at Georgia Southern University. Billy received the honor of 2007 Business Leader of the Year awarded by the Statesboro-Bulloch Chamber of Commerce. In 2013, Billy was named Alumni of the Year for the College of Business Administration at Georgia Southern University. He is a member of the First Baptist Church in Statesboro, Georgia.
