Billy and JoAnn Hickman Master of Accounting Scholarship
Billy and JoAnn Hickman, both 1974 alums of Georgia Southern established the Billy and JoAnn Hickman Master of Accounting Scholarship in 2011. William R. Hickman, Jr., CPA, CFF, known as Billy among his colleagues, joined the firm currently known as Dabbs, Hickman Hill & Cannon, LLP in 1974. By 1983 he became a partner, and served as managing partner from 1998 through 2008. Billy holds licenses as a CPA in both Georgia and Florida. JoAnn holds a degree in Art Education from Georgia Southern and is an instructor at Ogeechee Technical College. The Billy and JoAnn Hickman Master of Accounting Scholarship is available to students have completed an undergraduate degree at Georgia Southern University and must be in the traditional MAcc (Master of Accounting) program. A new MAcc candidate must have a 3.4 undergraduate GPA in the accounting courses and must have an overall 3.25 GPA. An existing MAcc candidate has the same requirements. First preference is given to first generation students from rural Georgia, which excludes high population areas such as Atlanta Metro and surrounding counties, Athens, Macon, Columbus, Augusta and Savannah.
