Dr. Lee Rogers Berger Scholarship in Anthropology

This scholarship was established in 2012 by Dr. Lee Rogers Berger and his mother, Rose Mae Millikan. Dr. Berger graduated from Georgia Southern in 1990 with a degree in Anthropology and a minor in Geology. After graduation, Dr. Berger pursued a career in paleontology and is now a paleoanthropologist, physical anthropologist, and archaeologist. He is renowned for his discovery of Australopithecus sediba, the excavation of the Rising Star Cave, his work on Australopithecus africanus body proportions, and the Taung Bird of Prey Hypothesis. This scholarship is available to junior and senior Anthropology majors who have maintained a 3.0 GPA or higher and intend seek a graduate degree in one of the following:

Paleoanthropology, Biological anthropology, Physical anthropology, Hominin evolution, Evolutionary studies, Primate behavior, Primate studies, Faunal analysis, African zooarchaeology.
